Beach Volleyball
Welcome to NorthShore Boys and Girls Beach Volleyball!
REGISTRATION FOR 2026 Beach VOLLEYBALL Opens Early March!
We are pleased to once again offer our beach volleyball program on the beach courts in Traverse City!
We hold practices four days each week: Monday – Thursday, with most athletes doing Mondays/Wednesday, or Tuesdays/Thursdays. Athletes can attend all four days, or just one day a week.
Athletes who are playing in East Coach, West Coast, Mid-West, and National Champions can be invited to be part of our Nationals Program.
We also will also be hosting 4 or more tournaments during the summer season.
Why Beach Volleyball
Most importantly, it is a ton of fun! It trains players to read the ball, arguably the most important skill in volleyball. It is a great work out, and you get to be on the beach. There are no benches on the beach, so athletes get 100 percent of the playing time. Beach volleyball also makes you a much better indoor volleyball player.
AVP Tournaments
As we continue on our mission to provide access to beach volleyball for as many athletes as possible, we also have a mission to create opportunities for our athletes who are looking to compete at the highest levels. Athletes who wish to play at East Coast, West Coast, or National Championship must earn bids at qualifying tournaments. All of our tournaments will be AVP sanctioned tournaments so participants can earn bids. For those tournaments to be sanctioned all the athletes participating must have an AVP Silver membership.
SEASON SCHEDULE
Our season starts on Thursday, June 11th and finishes on Thursday, August 13th. (High school indoor volleyball starts Monday, August 10, but they are welcome to attend practices if they wish.)
Please see our full practice and Tournament Schedule is here! (Link will go live when schedule is complete in early March.)
WEATHER
Beach player are tough and play through rain, snow, and the blazing sun! We will only cancel practices if a thunderstorm is likely. If we see lightning, we will either delay the practice for 30 minutes, or more likely cancel the remaining practice.
PROGRAM COSTS
We are a flexible program and want to provide beach volleyball to as many athletes as possible. Attending 2 practices a week is what we recommend, however, athletes can attend more, or less. They can also make up missed practices by attending other practice days (they can just show up on that day and say they are making up a practice). We will also have a drop-in registration for those who can only do a limited number of practices.
- Recommended: Two practices a week, or 9-17 practices. $325 ($331 for Venmo).
Two or more family members: $265 each ($271 for Venmo) - One practice a week, or 6-8 practices: $225 ($231 for Venmo)
- Unlimited practices (18+ practices): $450 ($456 for Venmo)
- Drop-in practice is $25 per practice (max of 5 practices).
- Beach National Program: $120 additional fee. (This is by invite only).
Payment is due June 18th. Payment by Venmo is the easiest: ShoreVB (please add the suggested service fee above). You can also pay by check/cash as long as the payment is well-marked with athlete full name and guardian’s full name.

Ages / Genders
Program are open to all genders. Grades 4th – 12th (plus recently graduated athletes). Under 3rd grade by director approval.
Partners
One of our main questions is “do they need a partner?” The answer is no! We match up players in practice when partners are needed. However, athletes often enjoy having a dedicated partner,
We HIGHLY encourage athletes to play with multiple partners throughout the season, especially at tournaments. Finding the right partners is an important journey.
Uniforms
Matching outfits are totally cool, but not necessary. We will have apparel available to purchase at the beginning of the season.
Tryouts/Teams
There are no tryouts for beach volleyball. It is a great opportunity for athletes of all skill levels and ages (4th – 12th is recommended, but younger athletes can be successful if they are somewhat serious).
Courts
We will be playing on the Traverse City beach courts (West Bay).
If you have any questions, please email jordanbbates@gmail.com.
