“Don’t Just Fly, Soar”- Dumbo
School: Benzie Central High School
College: Concordia University-Ann Arbor, Lake Superior State University, NMC
Playing Experience: 4 years varsity at Benzie Central, 4 years club w/ GTAVC, 2 years collegiate at CUAA
About Me: Volleyball has always been a part of my life (even before I was born). My mother was a collegiate volleyball player, coached throughout the years, and continued to play in rec leagues until she was 8mos pregnant with me. I attended my first game when I was 6mos old! My grandmother played volleyball, my youngest sister plays, and our life growing up revolved around volleyball practices and tournaments. The volleyball court is my home.
On a non-volleyball note- I live in Benzie and I work at the local credit union in Frankfort as the assistant manager. I’ve recently branched out and started my own business, The Bubbly Bobber, as a mobile bubble tea unit. I’m a huge book nerd, Marvel movie fanatic, Disney adult, and animal lover. I have 2 chiweenies, Oscar & Mira, and 2 cats, Maxine and Arlo, along with the surviving chickens that were purchased during COVID- Karen, Betty, Big Mama, and Esmerelda. My family is also a part of a small community of black powder muzzleloaders- we travel across the state during the summer to compete in shooting events and help host an event at our club in Manistee.
Coaching Experience: I began my coaching journey with Benzie Central in 2016 as their JV coach. I coached Benzie’s varsity team from 2017-2021. I’m going into my 10th season coaching at Northshore and while I started coaching a 13’s team, I now coach the 15/16’s.
Coaching Philosophy: I like to coach the strategy just as much as the physicality of volleyball. A well-placed tip should feel just as good as a 10 foot-line swing. Learning to use every touch of the ball to out-smart your opponent in combination with strength and ability. Also, #trusttheprocess
Biggest Volleyball “ICK”: Sending a freeball over at the net…..ew.
